Though drawn to Bauhaus and Constructivist Art via numerous exhibitions she witnessed at The Architectural Association School as a student, she was not at all sold on the Constructivist ideals of Artists suddenly discarding their individuality and paint brushes in order to take up engineering tools to reflect the modern industrial world of the Socialist Era.
Even so, Constructivism, particularly the aspects of striving to make relevant Art that is free from academic tradition, and being able to communicate via a multitude of Artforms, is an influence that persists in her built-up installation pieces and lyrically constructed works which include Music.
Alele was born in the Delta State of Nigeria and came to boarding school in England in 1982 at age 16. She has since continuously resided in London and exhibited in Germany, England, and the USA.
She has been assisted by the Pollock Krasner Foundation NY, The Prince’s Youth Trust and London Arts Board.
