Anastasija Aleksic (born in 1989) is a visual artist whose practice focuses on painting as a space for exploring memory, identity, and emotional transformation. She grew up in Montenegro, in a Mediterranean environment that shaped her sensitivity towards atmosphere, space, and the relationship between personal experience and collective memory.
She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera in Milan. During her studies and her stay in Italy, she participated in numerous group exhibitions, developing a painterly practice centred on psychological states, intimate narratives, and the construction of identity.
After completing her studies, she worked for six years in Italy as a producer in the fashion industry, gaining extensive experience in visual communication, image-making, and artistic production. This experience continues to inform her approach to composition, narrative, and the relationship between image and perception.
She currently lives and works between Montenegro, Serbia, and Italy. Her recent work explores themes of childhood, motherhood, memory, and the invisible emotional structures that shape individual and collective identities. Through figurative painting, she creates ambiguous spaces where personal history, imagination, and lived experience intersect.
