Paul Akpokodje is a Nigerian (born in 1984, in Illah, Delta state) and an architect, creative artist and founder of a Lagos-based design firm NonFIRM Design Studio. A winner in the 2002 Architectural Press Quiz Competition and The Berkeley Prize Student Competition, 2005 notable mention, he holds a Master’s and Bachelor's degree from the University of Lagos in Environmental Design and Architecture respectively.
His over 15 years working experience began in the practice of the renowned Nigerian architect and urban planner, Prof. David Aradeon. At Studio 4 Associates, he worked on numerous residential and cultural projects. He then went on to work in the practice of Anthony Aihie of Design Union. In 2012, he participated in an open space workshop with Prof. David Aradeon and Kuti Ezebiro on _Flood Resilient Design Strategies for the Environment_. An event organized by the Heinrich Böll Stiftung in association with Dream Arts & Design Agency and the Department of Architecture, UNILAG. In the same year, he made a presentation titled The Way We Think in the 8th Edition of Design Workshop Series at the University of Lagos. His artwork has also been published in the poetry book titled Gardens and Caves (Poems) by Emmanuel Uweru Okoh. His art expressions are a window to his identity.
Today, his designs explore the human cultural identity and spatial possibilities and ideas, inherent in sustainable solutions of everyday problems.
