Damilola Ajegbomogun is an artist from Nigeria. Born March 1993 in Ibadan Nigeria. He had his primary and secondary education in Ogun state Nigeria. He went to Federal college of education Abeokuta studied fine and applied art. In 2018 he further proceed at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), to obtain a B.A Honor in Creative Art, 2020. Growing up as an artist I was hungry for a kind of dialogue that centered around intention, style, feelings, I was painting and at the same time I was looking for an answer, creating works that brings emotion so everybody can see something different. I think understanding human being is like understanding the whole humanity, very much interested in their feelings in all their expressions, so my paintings become my best friend because, I understand the changes happening to me year by year. For a long time have been interested in brush mark and how the brush mark describe the intensity of character, and the idea of authenticity.
My works convey more in a Minimalist style transmitting calm through a detailed study of form and a clear brush stroke. The characters are lonebusts and faces over an empty and monochrome space, appearing like in dreams where everything turns red. My works begins when i capture the model in its nature_like, many of them are related to music, and there outpost in life, the transcedence. Humanity is the main subject in my paintings, it is also my interlocutor in these mute and soliloquicing conversations. Just a glance and the peaceful and mysterious features of the unknown passersby, captured on my canvas , is the only contact i forge with my models. In my paintings i try to transmit deeper expression, their aura. Visually strong, with the minimalistic background, first red but also cyan an ambiguity that questions the souls. Genders, future, music, violence and religion. The red erases our points of references and leaves us with emotions only.
My painting as attracted the attention of the collectors and buyers with my creations, aim for something more primitive, more profound, subtle and enduring.
