From a very young age, I loved to draw and paint. I took part in school art competitions and felt a sense of pride whenever my work was exhibited. I especially enjoyed sketching people, often focusing on the beauty and elegance of Pakistani and Indian women. However, as life took over, my creative side went into hibernation, waiting for the right moment to resurface.
That moment came when my children grew older, and I found a little time for myself. I joined a local art class to ease back into painting, but it was only in 2020 that my artistic journey truly reignited. With the world slowing down, I found myself creating more, experimenting with different styles and techniques, and slowly gaining confidence. I started taking on commissions for friends and family, and with each piece, I discovered more about my own artistic identity.
Now, I feel I have found a technique that I am comfortable with. My work is often inspired by nature and the spiritual connections that bind us all. Through texture, colour, and form, I try to capture that essence in my paintings. I am still on my journey of self-discovery as a largely self-taught artist, constantly learning and evolving. I find inspiration everywhere—from nature, from life, and from artists of all backgrounds, no matter how big or small.
Art, for me, is more than just creating—it is a way of expressing the unseen, of bringing emotions and connections to life on canvas. This journey is ongoing, and I am excited to see where it takes me next
