Art
life chose me in a small tranquil hill town in the Kumaon Hills and my crowning
glory has been to receive the National Award from the President of
India, the world's largest democracy. This encouraged me to relocate
to New Delhi, the Cultural Capital to follow my calling.
At
the outset one took a bold decision to not adopt any traditional school of
thought or be influenced by intellectualism or any other form of art. 17 years
of hands-on experience of attending & holding art exhibitions, art camps in
India & abroad, visiting artists studio helped me evolve as a self-taught
artist. This helped my individual style and technique to develop which is not
referential to the past. The preferred medium to express myself on is oil
and acrylic colors on canvas, water colors and charcoal on paper and art
installations.
My
first Group Exhibition was at 19 yrs & Art became the raison
d'être of my existence. Teaching art to kids was a good way to earn &
learn through Studio A3-All About Art which touched the lives of 2000
Young Adults in 14 yrs.
One
was richer by interacting with International Artists while attending exchange
programs by visiting and hosting Artists from Germany, China, Bhutan, Sri
Lanka & Pakistan. At Shilp Kutumb (NGO) worked with different crafts and
got experience in different mediums. My
last 6 years in isolation in my studio have been dedicated to looking
inwards to evolve my art techniques in paintings which are not intimidated by the past & have a new story to tell.
