I am Reyhaneh Abrooei, a painter and cartoonist born on September 2, 1996, in Rasht, Iran. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Painting from the Faculty of Art at the University of Guilan, where I graduated in 2020. Throughout my career, I have actively participated in both national and international art scenes, showcasing my work through solo and group exhibitions and receiving recognition from various prestigious festivals.
My solo exhibition, “Cheh Hengam Miziestam,” was held at Kalehr Gallery in Rasht in 2023. I have also taken part in several group exhibitions, such as the First Annual Exhibition of Contemporary Painters of Gilan (2024, Rasht and Karaj), the “Image of the Year” exhibits at the Iranian Artists Forum in Tehran (2020 and 2024), “Around Our Dreams” at Rafa Gallery in Anzali (2019), and my early show, “Printmaking Art Students,” at Out Gallery, Rasht, in 2017.
Throughout my journey, I have been fortunate to receive a number of awards and honours that have encouraged me to continue developing my artistic vision. In 2020, I received the Third Prize at the 17th Image of the Year event at the Iranian Artists Forum. My cartoon work has been internationally recognised: I won the Bronze Prize at the ICACF Cartoon Festival in China (2018), received an Honour Diploma at the SICACO Cartoon Festival in South Korea (2018), and have been selected for participation at renowned festivals in Portugal, Serbia, China, and Argentina. One of my proudest achievements is winning the Best Cartoonist Prize at the “Mens en Water” event at De Geus Gallery in Belgium in 2017.
With every project and exhibition, I strive to share my unique perspective, infusing my Iranian heritage with a contemporary approach that resonates with diverse audiences around the world.
