Ryan Abramowitz is a Melbourne based artist, author and storyteller who draws inspiration from the natural world and our relationship to it; especially human experience. Combining a Bachelor of Design (Honours – University of New South Wales) and a Master of Management (University of Melbourne) Ryan has worked in marketing, brand experience and communications across corporate, freelance and not-for-profit settings.
Through his business ‘Today Tomorrow Forever’, Ryan feels honoured to paint wedding certificates through bespoke artworks that celebrate the love story of each couple. He is always seeking to offer artistic expressions that resonate, excite and inspire audiences.
On World Suicide Prevention Day 2023 (10th September) Ryan released his debut picture book ‘Elegy for an Elephant’ which he authored, illustrated and independently published. It is inspired by his family's journey to process and repair from the passing of his father, Joel to suicide. Set between the sea and stars, the story follows the quest of a whale and two birds seeking out their father’s soul. Ryan hopes all those readers navigating grief who turn its pages will feel seen, soothed and supported.
The artworks submitted for this prize are offerings from ‘Elegy for an Elephant’.
