Amalia Kalianiotou is a visual artist and practicing psychotherapist based on a Greek island. She began painting three years ago, following an inner calling to express complex emotional and social landscapes through art. Despite her relatively recent start, she has already participated in four physical exhibitions and completed three years of formal art studies. Her background in psychology deeply informs her work, giving her visual language a layered and introspective quality.
STATEMENT"I approach painting as a way to process the chaos, humor, and contradictions of modern life. Inspiration comes unexpectedly — sometimes from nature, sometimes from political frustration, personal memories, or the absurdity of daily experiences. My techniques vary depending on what I want to express. I use oil paints, acrylics, crayons, and mixed media, often combining materials in unconventional ways. My work is not limited by rules or formal aesthetics; I care more about truth, feeling, and urgency than about style. Some of my works carry political messages, others are more lyrical or intuitive. What connects them is a drive to communicate, challenge, and stir awareness. Painting, for me, is not decoration. It is communication. It is testimony".
