Lodewijk van Bodeghem (aka Ludovic Ledent)
Belgian Artist and
curator, born in 1981
Master in Fines Arts
@ E.R.G., Brussels
Actual Work :
This
series draws its inspiration from the motifs of the rocaille and
Baroque styles
and was developed in the artist's studio for over a year. Leaf
patterns and images are folded and colored to explore perception of
viewpoint and volume. The artist finds particular interest in this
style as it allows for shaping volumes by working with folded
surfaces. Through twisting the leaf, a volume is created, reminiscent
of marcescent leaves that wither without detaching from the main
plant. These volumes, taken as a whole, form a conglomerate of matter
that appears constantly in motion. The use of colors enhances this
impression and engages the viewer in a dynamic vision.
