Up up, down, feel a thread pulling you up from the center of the head. Stretch out!
The thumb should not touch the palm, little finger above, narrower middle finger. Remember your chin and do not look down! The thumb is too wide, so it’s not smart! Keep the space with your palm, your fingers are not in the right position, index and taller little. Release your hand! No no no shoulders are too tight, pull on chin ...
Do not forget about the rest of the body!
Interspace is a project designed to underline those body spaces that are usually not considered, but which become of paramount importance when involved in certain types of workouts. Thanks to my personal experience I started to work on classical dance positions, considering especially the hands and neck; parts of the body to which we do not give weight, above all by attending a ballet but that are basic to the aptitude of a ballerina and are particularly trained when approaching this artwork for the first time.
The sculptures made in clay are thus a visualization of a space created and occupied by the mind during the workout. It is a help to keep the right position, a support to perceive this space, to feel the sensation that concentration, training creates in these areas that from empty become dense in tension. So when you maintain a position you become creators of a previously unstable stable space. This mental action is so intense that it changes the body and, precisely, the space around us, in particular the way we live this space and how we change it.
Our mind has the ability to modulate not only our body but also the space around us. The tension that is created in certain empty areas stabilizes the mobile space and makes it physical through training that requires time and perseverance to be effective.
The eight sculptures that make up the project are then used during a performance that takes up the movements of classical dance to show the body as well as the space that surrounds us which are modified and fixed.
