Biography
The work of Antonio Cury Neto emerges from the meeting point between the refinement of jewelry and the intensity of painting. Born in São José do Rio Preto, Brazil, in 1980, the Italo-Luso-Brazilian artist has built his career through a dialogue of materials, forms, and memory.
He earned a degree in International Relations from Centro Universitário Ibero-Americano and studied Jewelry Design at Escola Panamericana de Artes e Design. For more than a decade, he established himself in the jewelry world, with his signature collections featured in fashion editorials and magazines — an experience that sharpened his sensitivity to form, color, and detail.
In 2024, Cury Neto turned to painting, at first as a therapeutic practice, but soon developed a distinctive visual language marked by bold color, striking contrasts, and the incorporation of seeds and semiprecious stones. Moving between figuration and abstraction, his work explores spirituality, identity, and transformation, creating a symbolic territory that is at once intimate and universal — balancing fragility and strength, gesture and transcendence, memory and future.
By the following year, his paintings were gaining recognition in group exhibitions. Highlights include Fecundo, presented at Teatro Municipal Humberto Sinibaldi Neto during the International Theater Festival of São José do Rio Preto (FIT); Mothers of Gaza, selected for the Arte na CIdade competition organized by Diário da Região newspaper; and Reiki, chosen by FAPERP for a traveling exhibition in public health centers.
