Bio
Through my artistic practice, as well as through my life, I am moving towards a more attentive and sensitive way of being in empathy with my surroundings and with myself. An engagement that allows the “other” to exist, independently, through their feelings, but also, afterwards, through my own — I want to sense how this “boundary” is reinterpreted each time, in each interaction, becoming more fluid, sensitive, or even no longer having the meaning of a “boundary” of anything. At the same time, it is important to accept the continuing “impossibility of encounter” with the “other” as the impossibility of being fully understood, but where art, as a truly creative act that actualises the virtual (as a sphere of affect), implies ‘going beyond’ the already familiar (our “real” selves), a kind of ‘self-transcendence’ and rebirth, and thus a new possibility for interaction with the environment.
It is important for me to act at breaking points, in places of inconsistency, where the finest fabric of different “realities” is found, to observe their layering / (in)consistency - both between one person and 'another' (a person, environment, other living/non-living being), as well as within oneself (a dialogue between several aspects of a single personality, including hidden desires and motives as the shadow side, and also the theme of phantoms, as invented but also real realities, which particularly interests me). How do these realities sometimes come into conflict and how does conflict arise (or can it)? Here I am especially curious about the topic of interactions as flexible processes. How can such contacts and connections be established, understanding and taking into account the particularities of everyone involved?
This also raises questions about the dismantling of established notions of various ‘dualities’ (living/non-living, humans with their culture/nature, normality/disability, and even internal/external (inner/outer)).
I am increasingly coming to resolve these issues through sound and listening, deep listening. Or through noise (its various aspects) as the constantly changing, fluid and inexhaustible essence of everything, without fear of change and uncertainty, because noise itself is infinite presence and uncertainty. I am ever more immersed in the instability, fragility, and variability of the interconnections of all elements in the existing and non-existing, discovering new paths of deep recognition – of new acquaintance.
It is important to me that each work carries within itself a deep charge, perhaps not clearly visible, but arising from an understanding/experience of the inner state of the work. Perhaps that is the goal - to find that hidden channel of communication, to touch it, to turn towards it, to find the courage to do so, and to be honest with oneself and with the world.
I work with found objects/textiles in my artworks, and the base of each assemblage usually consists of found wooden panels. I am interested in giving new life to what has already travelled a certain path, that has its own history, and that will acquire new meanings and stories when incorporated into a collage. The tactile interaction with the body of the work is also important to me, manifested through its textures and volumes, which reflect an inner state — like knotted writing.
I was born and lived in Belarus until the protests of 2020, after which I was forced to leave my country for political and ideological reasons, which brings about feelings of alienation or attempts to find myself again, or longing or openness or longing. In Belarus, I studied Monumental Arts at the Belarusian State Academy of Arts, and after moving to the Czech Republic, I continued my studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts (Brno University of Technology) in Brno. I have participated in many exhibitions, both solo (SKURA - 27.03 - 24.04.2025, Zaazrak|Dornych / Brno; Akrestina - 8.09 - 27.10.2023, Galerie města Třince / Třinec; SHIFT - 15.04 - 11.06.2023, Galerie výtvarného umění v Náchodě / Náchod; MCANNV - (SEFT) 27.04 - 21.05.2022, Nezávislá iniciativa / Brno-město) and group (Yuliya Bokhan & Luboš Plný - 18.11.2023 - 14.01.2024, Galerie NTK / Praha 6; Pověste ho vejš - 25.05.25 - 28.09.25, Galerie Vzlet / Praha)
