During the 2020 lockdown when racism and violence invaded the streets, I desperately wanted to show support, but protesting wasn’t exactly my cup of tea. It took days to figure out the best way to express myself. When listening to a personal development podcast, I suddenly realized my strength resided in creation. This power and this voice was in my hands. I am an artist; I cry through my hands.
This piece is a double homage for Black Lives Matter and Chadwick Boseman in Black Panther Marvel. I started a whole new collection with vivid colors during the day and revealing another interpretation at night. I found it so romantic and meaningful that a colorful painting fighting for Black Lives Matter would become blind till a blue light revealed another vision. Since then I created my signature pattern; the puzzle. I used it for the first time for my piece called “Chadwick.” This is not about technique this time; it is about love. Look closely in his eyes where you can read Black Lives Matter.
Close your eyes and imagine each piece of the puzzle is a human being. We are the colors of the world. How beautiful it is? At the end we all need each other; we are stronger together. As the puzzle pieces, we all try to fit, connect, and click with each other. We all want to find our soul sisters and brothers. This alchemy is beyond colors because in the end all those pieces blend together and are united in a greater picture.
