Dušan Zekovič – HAZE

Born in 1959 in Ljubljana, I live and create in a small village in the municipality of Velike Lašče, where I have realized numerous works in public space. By education I am an economist, but decades of work in construction left a strong mark on me – I used to build physical structures, while today I build artistic ones, through sculpture, which has become my lifelong dialogue with the world. I entered sculpture as a self-taught artist, guided by intuition, honesty, and experimentation, which allow me full freedom of expression.

My sculptures range from intimate small-scale works made of wire, plaster, and gypsum, to larger abstract iron objects. I particularly enjoy working with discarded materials from construction sites, breathing new life into them. In this way, I build a bridge between seriousness and darkly humorous reflections on life, between transience and the solid persistence of matter.
