Jingyi Yang is a textile artist and designer from Baotou, Inner Mongolia, currently
completing her MFA in Textiles at Parsons School of Design, The New School. Rooted in both
urban and nomadic cultures, her practice explores themes of spatial distance, cultural memory, and
emotional resonance through weaving, biomaterials, and installation. Her concentration is to utilize
natural materials, like algae and coffee grind, to create biodegradable textile work. Drawing from
proxemics theory and traditional Mongolian symbolism, Jingyi constructs tactile narratives that
meditate on transformation, loss, and belonging.
