Azia Sammartano (1984) lives and works in Turin. Trained as a medical doctor, she specializes in developmental communication, an area that deeply informs her artistic practice with a heightened sensitivity toward trauma and collective memory. Her academic background, while not directly tied to art, laid the foundation for a multidisciplinary path weaving together science, communication, introspection, and social denunciation. A passionate self-taught artist, she nurtures her visual practice through continuous study, inner exploration, and ethical commitment. Her work embodies an ongoing investigation into the human soul, cerebral synchronicity, interpersonal well-being, and familial traumas. She inhabits liminal spaces—between art and science, wakefulness and dream, being and non-being—where dysfunctional bonds, invisible wounds, and private pain transform into collective language, inviting reflection and sharing.
