Andrei Mocanu was born in Romania and lives in Germany. He is a visual artist, a poet and a programmer. He exhibited in the US, UK, South Corea, Italy.
As a child, whenever Andrei was asked where his home was, he would name the big city where he lived with his parents. Yet the answer always made him quietly indignant. For him, his real home lay two hundred and fifty kilometers away, in the surf zone of the Black Sea - a place he was permitted to inhabit only for two or three weeks each summer. Today, the artist sees that it was this state of constant transition that bound him to the shore. The memory is not only a clue to what art means to him - above all, a state of transformation - but also marks the beginning of his enduring bond with the sea and, more broadly, with the landscapes of nature.
