Miria Miria is a Japanese-born cross-media artist based in the UK. Her work explores the relationality between human and non-human entities through installations, assemblages, painting, and performance. Having begun her artistic journey in her 50s, she brings a distinctive life experience to her practice, informed by living across Asia, Oceania, and Europe. Her recent projects draw on ecological thinking, memory, and material agency, often incorporating found objects and precariously balanced structures that evoke both fragility and resilience.
She holds an BA (First-Class Honours) in Fine Art, Goldsmiths, University of London. MFA (Distinction), BALTIC x Northumbria University (Exchange at RMIT, Melbourne). Her work has been exhibited internationally, including solo shows in Melbourne and Redcar, and as part of environmental art series in the UK. She is also an active curator and community organiser, running a studio-gallery in a post-industrial coastal town.
