BIO
Bety Krňanská (b. 1992, Czech Republic) is a visual artist based in Athens.
Her work spans painting, textile practices, and digital media, exploring how femininity, desire, and the body are constructed within
contemporary visual cultures. Combining techniques such as patchwork, paint, and crochet with AI-generated imagery, she investigates the
tension between manual craft and algorithmic aesthetics. Her compositions often examine how representation is shaped through both
care and control. The tactile qualities of her materials are set against the smooth, computational logic of artificial image
production, generating visual languages that are both intimate and estranged. Krňanská holds an MFA in Painting from the Academy of Arts,
Architecture and Design in Prague and was a finalist for the 2019 Czech Art Critique Prize for Young Painters. She has exhibited internationally, with recent solo exhibitions including I Want You to See It (Alkinois Gallery, Athens, 2025, curated by Panos Giannikopoulos), Unexpected Encounters (GAMU, Prague, 2024), and Too Fluid to Handle (Berlinskej Model, Prague, 2022). Her work has also been included in group exhibitions such as In Margine (8smička Gallery, Humpolec, 2024), A Scattering of Salts (ACG Art Collection, American College of Greece, 2023), Looking with the Eyes of Love (The Breeder Gallery, Athens, 2023), EFFIMISMS (MISC Gallery, Athens, 2023), The WORLDS (Drawing Triennale, Wrocław, 2022), Days of Unearthing (Czech Center, Vienna, 2022), and Pocta Suknu (Gallery 8smička, Humpolec, 2017). Her work has been featured in several exhibition catalogues and publications, including Spike magazine, issue Patriarchy.
