Artist Statement
I
am a dedicated fine art photographer with a passion for exploring the complex
relationship between time, nature, and light. My
work is characterised by a contemplative approach that seeks to reveal hidden
connections and deeper layers of existence, transforming ordinary scenes into
profound visual narratives. This stems from my belief that photography is not
merely a medium for representation but a tool for meditation and a deeper
understanding of reality—inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and perceive
beyond the surface.
My
artistic journey is deeply personal, rooted in a continual quest to see the
familiar with new eyes and to convey the poetic beauty of fleeting moments. I have always
been drawn to the interplay between natural elements like water and light, and
the built world, which reflects broader themes of transience and endurance.
This fascination drives series such as “Dublin Distilled: Moments between
moments,” where I use long exposure and monochromatic palettes to capture the
temporal flow of Dublin's architecture against its watery reflections.
An
earlier project, "Structure of Reality," explored our perception and
how we interpret reality. In it, I aimed to capture seascapes in a surrealist
and abstract spirit, seeking to reveal deeper layers of existence and challenge
conventional views. This project marks a significant milestone in my artistic
career, representing my first major work. It laid the foundational framework
for my creative exploration, allowing me to experiment with surrealist and
abstract aesthetics while deeply engaging with themes of perception and
reality. The insights and techniques developed through this project have
profoundly influenced my subsequent series, shaping my unique visual language
and artistic vision. I have honed my skills through studies at the Photography
Academy of Ireland, where I am currently in my final year, exploring diverse
genres from landscape and architecture to conceptual fine art. My commitment to
innovation has been recognised internationally, with accolades including:
