Heuer

Cordula Heuer, a German painter based in Milan in Italy, has a lifelong passion for oil painting. Initially she balanced her career as a management consultant in the insurance industry and her MBA studies; now, she focuses entirely on her art.
Cordula's artistic journey shows her commitment: in her early twenties, she destroyed all of her artwork; in her late twenties she started painting again, driven by her need to express herself through her oil.  
Having lived in Germany, England, Scotland, Spain, the United States, and now in Italy, her travels have influenced her approach to color and her choice of subjects, reflecting a curiosity for places, people and cultures. For Cordula, diversity is not a contradiction, it is a natural and vital part of a complex world.
Over the years, Cordula has experimented with many materials and techniques, eventually focusing on oil paint. She uses a mixed technique with both a palette knife and a brush on canvas; the palette knife adds thickness and texture to her paintings, drawing the viewer in. She has explored various color palettes in a continuous search for light, shading and form.
Cordula’s visual identity and bold use of color has been greatly influenced by German Expressionism and the “Die Brücke” movement. Her painting explore different themes: the fragility, friction, and fragmentation of male identity in today’s complex social landscape, as exemplified in the Men on the Run series; exploring of architecture, light, culture and color; finally abstract pieces are a way for Cordula to reset, to explore new ideas, themes, and color combinations with complete freedom, offering a path for creative discovery and renewal.
