IN-SIDE is an artistic collective of four women, each at a different stage of life, shaped by four unique personal stories. In 2023, artists came together with the shared intention to create collaboratively. The name IN-SIDE reflects focus on exploring inner worlds—each of the artists following her own individual path into spaces that are personal, yet open and accessible to others. It is an invitation: Come inside.
Each member brings her own distinct artistic language and experience, resulting in a fusion of perspectives that intersect, complement, and challenge one another.
Collective members:
Dominika Sergiej (Master’s degree, UMCS ISP Lublin – Art Education, 2007; English Philology, 2007, Poland)
Aleksandra Kucewicz-Wasilewska (Master’s degree, Nicolaus Copernicus University, Toruń, 2007; PhD, Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts, Łódź, 2019, Poland)
Katarzyna Łukaszewicz (Master’s degree, University of Warsaw, 2015; Bachelor’s degree, Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts, Łódź, 2020, Poland)
Beata Bugaj-Tomaszewska (Master’s degree, Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts, Łódź, 2002; PhD, 2019, Poland)
About the Artistic Project
The collective is built on shared work and a common goal. The project developed by IN-SIDE is living proof that, despite physical distance and the pressures of personal and professional life, it is possible to create together — and to express something meaningful.
Since October 29, 2023, the artists have been working on an ongoing project titled Letters. Every Sunday, they send one another a letter — not written in words, but created as an image on a 20 x 20 cm square of fabric or cardboard. These letters, exchanged weekly, are later physically assembled into a growing, tangible artwork for exhibitions and public meetings.
Each letter represents a fragment of the artists’ inner landscapes. These pieces are not always meant to be read in a traditional sense — they are meant to be felt. The letters convey intimate messages shaped by weekly experiences, moods, and reflections. There is no commentary, no judgment — only presence and space offered to one another, without expectations or the need for response.
Some letters arrive as empty squares, painterly gestures, collages, intricate cut-outs, or fragments of text — sometimes visible, sometimes hidden.
Through this process, they create an authentic dialogue that does not rely on spoken or written language. It is a form of communication that captures what often cannot be fully expressed in words.
About the Installation for Arte Laguna
At the heart of the installation lies the Letters project — an ongoing artistic conversation between Aleksandra Kucewicz-Wasilewska, Dominika Sergiej, Katarzyna Łukaszewicz, and Beata Bugaj-Tomaszewska.
The fabric and paper letters, exchanged since 2023, have been carefully sewn together into long, flowing strips using a sewing machine. These strips are wound onto wooden spools resembling film reels or photographic negatives, evoking the sense of recording fleeting moments.
This visual archive unfolds as a unique spatial narrative — a layered, continuous scroll of personal histories, silent exchanges, and emotional traces.
The installation invites viewers to step into this dialogue, to slow down, and to engage with the work in their own way. It offers not only a window into IN-SIDE’s collaborative process but also a space for shared reflection on the complexity of human connection.
Through art, this dialogue becomes more sincere and profound — holding the nuances, emotions, and truths that are often impossible to convey through ordinary letters or conversation. This form was chosen precisely because only through artistic language can they express what words alone cannot capture.
IN-SIDE: four women, four stories, exploring inner worlds through shared, unique artistic paths.
