The Two Cezannes This work is based on Cézanne's 1893 work Two Men Playing Cards, which he began painting in his hometown of Aix-en-Provence after his father's death in 1886. He spent many years in Paris before this, but was unsuccessful and criticized, and finally returned to his hometown with reluctance. In a letter to a friend, he wrote: "These peasants work day in and day out, and then go home to drink and play cards in a tavern. I think Cézanne used this painting to express his thoughts on the meaning of his own life. The purpose of adapting this work is to introduce Mr. Cézanne's consciousness into the algorithm and to present a reflection on different identities and destinies. The two peasants playing cards are like two Cézannes, one in Paris and the other in his hometown of Aix. The two Cézannes seem to be in parallel time and space, in a state of "Becoming" (from Deleuze's block theory) at any time, and they are playing with themselves.
