The Unseen (third work in ‘The Life’ trilogy)
I see ‘The Unseen’ as a metaphor for our larger processes of cognition in shades of gray.
One dot is a space for exploration. Three dots in rapid succession make that exploration endless. Making up the universal punctuation mark of the ellipsis, these dots combined as if to suggest “to be continued... “
I could endow each of these dots with more meanings, but I chose instead to leave this opportunity to the viewer as a reminder to pause and reflect.
It is this space between a moment of mindfulness and a spirit of exploration that I hope the viewer of this work will embrace. To that end, I’ve woven into the shades of gray one of my favorite quotes from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s The Little Prince: “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.” The quote is imperceptible to the naked eye, but when magnified, it uncovers the way to the truth.
The artwork has two formats: Digital image (JPEG) and printed artwork.
In addition, I added an AR layer to the printed artwork. Therefore, if the image is scanned with the Artivive app it provides access to the animated Antoine de Saint-Exupéry quote.
