The Dot: a fundamental form that we use every day. We put it at the end of a sentence; we use it to start any line or shape; we set it as an operator in programming. It is endlessly versatile to meet our needs, but we don't view it as an art object.
Exploring the dot is not a new artistic concept; prominent figures Damien Hirst and Yayoi Kusama have showcased the potential of the dot across various projects. I carry the practice in a new direction by focusing on the singular dot. I believe that if any artwork can be built from a dot, then magnifying a digital image presents a dot as its own work of art where secret meanings and content can be stored.
For me, the dot is an impetus for thought. It represents the birth of an idea in the depths of the subconscious. It symbolizes both the end and the beginning. It is the Dot that served as the last step on my path to becoming an artist, which continued for 10 years. My artistic reflections and research begin with this dot.
The artwork has two formats: Digital animated image (GIF) and printed artwork.
When the Digital Artwork is enlarged ‘The Dot’ provides access to my artistic manifesto embedded therein as animation (for GIF format only). In the printed artwork I embedded only one word "Create". It can be seen with a magnifier. In addition, I added an AR layer to the printed artwork. Therefore, if the image is scanned with the Artivive app it provides access to the animation of my artistic manifesto.
The Dot is the first work in ‘The Life’ trilogy.
