RHINO is an interactive projection and sound design for the theatre performance Rhino, premiered at Beijing Dance Academy (China) and playwright by Eugene Ionesco.
Being a metaphor for uncertainty and fear, the Rhino fits into the contemporary social context in the time of pandemic. The projection is triggered and nuanced by live camera data and sound parameters, in order to render the atmosphere. And the projection itself feed back to the live camera and create an infinite loop of media. Multimedia becomes the content more than merely a tool for the theater, where the environment is enhanced and augmented through a dimensionality-raising process. With the engagement of media and the projection screen, actors step out of the limitation on stage and communicate with the audience.
