This work was inspired by a photo my mom took of my grandmother when she was in her farm peeling corn for a soup that is famous in the mountain village she is from. Life is so simple in that small village I drew over the photo, created textures and drew details on the the tablet until my hand started hurting but when I saw the final result it was all worth it.
I decided to have a mirrored effect to represent how I see so much of my grandma in my mom and myself. I believe we are a reflection of our parents and family members that have made an impact in our lives. I live far away from my family in Peru so sometimes I can only hear their voice through phone calls and see them through video and photos like this one.
Every time I see this drawing I smile because it takes me back to my childhood when me and my sister played in the farm and I helped my grandma cook.
