This project documents the noise generated by the San Francisco bay bridge, Route 80, during the evening rush hour for three months. It explains the environmental impact of noise by visualizing the sound.
The Bay Bridge from San Francisco to Oakland carries an average of over 300,000 vehicles per day through my neighborhood. During peak hours, no less than 1,000 vehicles per minute pass over the bridge at the same time. I took over 200 audio samples from three consecutive months of evening peak noise for observation. I extracted information about vibrations and sound waves from these sound spectrum networks, programmed the data, and generated a visual landscape map.
Now, the more beautiful moment we can see, (such as high, dense mountains with layers of peaks...) the higher the vibration and sound wave frequencies are, which means that the corresponding noise dump is larger and the greater the impact on the surrounding residents. I intend to make the audience think about the atypical garbage by visualizing the sound. How will this non-recyclable atypical waste affect our life?
