Inspired by Italo Calvino's book "Invisible cities", we created an algorithm that transformed the written descriptions of the cities into images, making the invisible cities visible. In our interactive installation "VISIBLE CITIES" visitors can read the original book and look closer at the words via a magnifying glass connected to a screen that shows the image we generated out of that page. This process highlights how reading and fantasizing always create something visible and real. And as visitors observe the book in this very particular way, they are observed too by a series of portraits of imaginary people we made using A.I.-softwares and digitally edited them. This artwork is one of these portraits.
