Fungi Alphabet is a “Phygital” work combining the physical and digital worlds. This project is a humble tribute to the triumphant evolution of the mycelium world. Each creation represents a letter from our Latin alphabet for a total of 26 animated pieces, each with its own mushroom species, colors, and music. All letters carefully created using air-hardening clay were digitally scanned through a photogrammetry process that consist of taking 360° pictures of an object and rebuilding it using digital tools. Once digitized, these typographic sculptures transformed into fantastical scenes in the digital world, with fungi and plants as the main protagonists.
This project is based on a popular challenge open to all creatives, called 36 Days of Type, inviting all to create a new letter or number each day for 36 days or to participate by creating their favorite letter(s) or number(s). I participated in the 26 letters of the Latin alphabet.
Please note that each video was created as a loopable video. The edit I am sharing is a minimized version, so the entire video is not too long. The original videos/letters are 28 seconds each, for a total of approximately 12 minutes. This minimized version is 6 minutes.
