This video is a reimagined extract from a collaborative venture with Mexican-American music composer Oscar Olea. In this project, I created videos and also contributed to the lyrics and storyline. These visuals served as a dynamic backdrop for the opera titled "Diario de un Fantasma," which premiered in Mexico City in 2021 with projections on five large screens. Notably, the opera returned in 2023 with exciting improvements.
The story unfolds around a young woman in the prime of her life who, along with her lover, falls victim to a natural disaster. In the suspended "eternal moment" between life and death, she grapples with her new existence as a ghost. She yearns for the vitality of life and all its intricacies. Yet, as she observes the suffering of humanity, she is tormented by her inability to assist others. Throughout, she resists the persistent allure of death, which beckons her to follow.
Ultimately, this opera stands as a resounding ode to life and underscores the profound truth that life finds its meaning not in eternity but in the fleeting moments we embrace.
