Souls '22.
Video art project that play with lots of overlay movements in a loop of 2D animations.
A mix of metaphors: freedom and borders.
An infinite loop that is never ending creating a condition of loss and chaos inside the picture, with a good colour harmony to balance the atmosphere.
Playing with metaphors and using animation frames in a paper format to create a zine collection, so the audience can take home a piece of art.
The idea is to create an experience : something beautiful where it can be appealing from your eyes, but that can have a meaning on the other side as well. The audience can touch my animations through the zine collection full of animation frames.
Find bridges between new media technology and fine arts.
Using 2D animation and Risograph printing as a medium.
Risograph printing is a technique best described as 'digital screen printing'. The process is similar to screen printing, but with the convenience of an office copier. It's known for its vivid colours (that other printers can't produce) and its specific textures
Risograph printing originated in Japan in 1946, and is defined by vivid colours, a limited palette, and charming imperfections. Typically, it requires a special printer that layers one translucent colour at a time.
With risograph printing I feel I play with the light, an that is something that fascinate me, it brings life into a picture.
I find this technique is a perfect bridge to connect fine art and digital art, each frame has its own life, and together they create a beautiful composition that can be a poster or a zine book.
The idea behind is that you can’t touch normally an animations, you can interact with it from an emotional point of view but you can’t really take it with you, in this case each part of the animation is on a paper format; in a way you can bring home part of the soul of the project.
I like the idea that in this strange era instead of eliminating our past we will built bridges, connections in all forms.
The young and the old generation together without confusion.
I believe art is the perfect tool to experience that and my goal is to keep researching this new way to express my thoughts and emotions.
