The ‘I’
reflected in the mirror is the ‘other’ that opens up to being you. What is the
‘I’? The mirror sheds light on a spatial ‘I’ and posits the paradox of the ‘I’
that, in the duality of the reflected image, becomes ‘other than me’. The
camera itself becomes a paradox in the relationship with the mirror and the
observer other, a threshold of passage towards the relationship with ‘others
from me who can be me’, between potential and metaphysical relationships. The mirror
is, a vehicle for discovering and reinforcing identity, but of an other,
fragile identity that dissolves in jagged colours, with the technique of
datamoshing, The self-portrait in the mirror investigates the eye of the heart,
the fragility that unites us, the space where the human encounter takes place.
The self that opens up to ‘being you’.
