The virtual art installation “Scientific Emotions”, created by TakT, is conceived as a psychological and scientific art experience that is meant to invite its audience into an exploration of human emotions. Scientific Emotions brings forth a combination of scientifically created elements and the study and implementation of scientific theory on brainwave frequencies through the vehicle of an artistic audiovisual medium.
TakT uses real data and video they get from Science labs and University partners so that the information curated is scientifically accurate. By using scientific imagery as the primary material to express feelings, Scientific Emotions reveals the scientific process of what occurs during different emotional states and the reactions that transpire during the changing of those states. Examples include the different stages of "Rage" or how the brain changes and evolves through different states of "Stimulation". Audience members get to experience an artistic evocation of what is physically and mentally happening inside of them during the emotional rollercoaster we call life.
In addition to the scientific data shown through visuals, TakT also mixed different scientific studies and theories on brainwave frequency implementation into the music. Through a process called Binaural Beats, TakT sent a particular frequency (depending on the emotion) to one ear and a different frequency to the other (in a very similar frequency range) processed through custom audio frequency filters. The brain by itself creates a phantom frequency that it tries to align with. These frequencies in turn can cause an emotional reaction depending on the sensibilities of the audience. TakT has found through live experimentations in France, Dubai, South Korea, USA and India that many audience members were able to feel through the Binaural Beats the states of mind that reflected the emotions and chemical reactions they were watching. When mastering the audio, TakT used the help of AI. Through a series of algorithmic audio analysis, the AI was able to help in the overall sculpting and coloring of each Scientific Emotion differently depending on the primary frequencies and sound pressure levels of compression.
Audio: (Please wear headphones. Binaural Beats and subharmonic brainwave phase frequencies can not be heard with regular speakers)
Partnership: One of the Scientific Emotions presented (Fear/Emotional Confinement) is currently being represented by MOCA Italia. MOCA Italia and TakT became partners in March 2021, after TakT was designated as an “Artist in the Spotlight” by Arte Laguna.
Implementation: Ideally, each emotion would have a room or a full wall (which creates a more intense and enveloping feeling for the audience). If there is a spacing/sizing issue, TakT has a modification available. Six TakT custom Ipad Pros with custom created designed cases each dedicated to one video. TakT also has the wall mounts for the TakT Ipads and 12 specialized headphones all with slightly altered frequency responses.
Each Scientific Emotion science-art video comes with a custom physical IPad Pro and it’s own NFT. TakT believes this is the best way to form value in the digital age for the art buyer/investor while simultaneously giving it’s audience a physical art piece. By having a dedicated NFT for each Scientific Emotion the buyer has a coded and unique serial that cannot be copied or replicated and allows a digital tracking of the art piece for resell and royalty value.
