Reflection
In
"Reflection," I delve into the profound psychological
experience of seeing my reflection in my child, a moment when our
interdependence became unmistakably clear. Witnessing my own
traits—appearance, behavior, preferences, even the choice of food
and games—manifest in my child was an intense, almost surreal,
revelation.
To
convey this deeply personal realization, I created an allegory of my
condition through two cubes: one mirror and one glass. The glass cube
holds a photograph of me as a child, positioned beneath its
transparent surface. This installation, submerged underwater and
accompanied by the swirling sands and the haunting sounds of the
wind, captures the ephemeral nature of time and the continuous flow
of existence.
Part
of the "Second Childhood" project, this video installation
transforms my personal experiences into universal images that
encapsulate the essence of motherhood. I invite viewers to engage
with the cyclical patterns of identity and the profound connections
between parent and child, exploring how our reflections shape and are
shaped by those we love.
