The Pareidolia series originated in with a group of dance professionals at the Mark Morris Dance studios in New York, recording movement, finding abstract forms and tableaux to express personal states of being. This material was used to create abstracted images and concepts derived from our sessions.
Influenced by the performances and themes we improvised, I then go into a feverish state manipulating the video, deliberately forgetting my process, destroying the perfection of digital over and over, keeping on until I have no idea how I arrived at the final compositions. Through this I feel I reach a sense of tactility and imperfection where it feels more like painting. Other worlds, shapes and imagery come from that process.
