I took pictures and videos in Contemporary Art Museums (in Blinding Plan / the Cathedral is
the MACBA Museum of Barcelona) to then delete the appearing artworks.
I have imagined what the world would look like without contemporary, a world that does not live off research and experimentation, but of past only.
What remains in the picture is the sheer effect of displacement of people in front of contemporary art. This implies blatantly that between audience and contemporary people there is still a long gap to be bridged. Their gazes towards the emptiness report the inability of seeing and understanding exhibited artworks.
Secondly, once removed the artworks, Museums looked like enormous Cathedrals. If art is not there anymore, is that further evidence there is no God either?
Gothic cathedrals were facing east, in order to intercept and celebrate the rising sun. Alike, Museums look like contemporary Cathedrals that have lost their orientation - as if culture did not have a direction itself.
