This is part of a series of digital and photographic works I did within a block from my home. with covid and lock down, I wanted to explore the different worlds and little places that are around us. I feel that people feel disconnected from nature, that it is something seperate and different from them.
I live in Sydney, Australia and I thought it was interesting to explore the nature and plant life around around us at the macro level. With the digital works I made I was referencing the book The Heartbeat of Trees by Peter Wohlleben and the idea of consciousness of trees.
The original work was made by vjing at a resolution of resolution 3508 x 4961 as that I could print frames at borderless A3. I then recombined the frames back into this video.
My artist name 2fourK is taken from 2 concepts
- that film runs at 24 frames (pictures) per second
- a picture says 1,000 (1K) words
24*1000 = 24,000 and hence 2fourK
So the idea of the frames of video have always been interesting to me and I like the fact that I created these images as video, then printed them and have were hung in a gallery and now have been recollected and formed back into video. I chose a Warhol style colour scheme to comment on the pop-art process of producing the work.
