As a commission for a private collection, I was asked to bring a creature onto a small island near Troy, New York. After visiting the place, breathing its air, and collecting the materials the small land mass had to offer, I returned to my studio in New York City to create Wisdom Giver. This character formed from found material from across New York and a carved stone face was intended to watch over the forest that is would find its permanent home. As a being more of the wild realm I choose to carve the face to appear more animal like than human.
