"White Gold, Ressources"
(White Gold, Resources)
What will our future looks like?
- After destruction… what will remain of Life on earth (plant life, animal life, human life)?
- After destruction ... how to rebuild, to create Life again?
"White Gold, Ressources" is a source of life, the basis of subsistence.
"White Gold, Ressources" is from of the project « Réfléchissons-y » (Let’s think about it). This project took shape after the observation of the global geopolitical and environmental situation. It discusses armed conflicts, natural disasters, inappropriate human behaviors… and their consequences on people and their environment.
From a defined scenario (If we lack kindness ... what will remain of Life on earth, how to preserve it?) I created, like a plea, a set of artworks that appeal to the sensitivity and the memory rather than the functionality. This vision, materialized through sculptures, bas-reliefs, installation and objects, give shape to the potential destructions that the Humanity can suffer, if we the humans we have not enough kindness.
The objective of this project, still in progress, is to initiate an awareness of the beauty, the fragility, the power of Life, which can subsequently be transformed into a desire for commitment for the benefit of its preservation. Working mainly with fallen materials, this choice is essential, it is an integral part of this search for the enhancement of Life.
Like a hanging vegetable garden, "White Gold, Resources" is a fictional artwork that represents reservoirs of mushroom culture. In the form of fine filaments (such as mycelium) grafted onto small blocks of inert material (such as concrete). The production of this precious subsistence resource “White Gold,…” is taking shape, for to create a substrate suitable for life, for a reborn opulence…
The fiber (kozo paper) evokes the notion of purity, life and the recycled paper pulp (egg boxes) represents the density and the inalterability and pins represents the human action.
By choosing mainly recycled paper and vegetable fibers, I choose that the artwork can quickly be altered over time, only pins will resist.
This choice allows "White Gold, Triptyque" and the project « Réfléchissons-y » to embody more deeply the fragility of Life.
"White Gold, Resources" is the first in a series of hanging cultures in progress.
