This work mainly discusses the relationship between rules, control, desire and bait. It mainly discusses that manipulators in society and nature use people's desire to control people. In such a relationship, rules are more like the discipline of the ruling class to the ruled class. The manipulators use the desires of the manipulated as bait to control their direction. Just like the story of "donkey and carrot", the exploited people can only see the carrots in front of them. The desire they think can be grasped and satisfied is actually just a controlled bait. Even their desire itself is one of the limited choices in the rules.
As Slavoj Zizek discussed in the book Violence, the physical violence that people can see is often the product of some kind of systematic violence. This systematic violence sustains the political and economic system in which we live. In my opinion, the "violence" here is actually the "carrot" in my works. It is a kind of control or means of controlling people. This "carrot" maintains people's life in the rules.
I think not only in the political and economic system, but also in anything with the nature of "ruling and being ruled", this "carrot" exists. This relationship can be specific to nature and mankind, society and people, as well as a government and citizen, religion and believers, schools and students, parents and children, superiors and employees, merchants and consumers, etc. Therefore, I would like to discuss my view of "violence" as a role in these relationships. Therefore, in this work, I mainly discuss the "violence" itself and the fact that people are controlled by violence.
This work is a series of works composed of three projects. I use three different forms and perspectives and three different materials to express the same theme, that is discussing the relationship between people, rules and desires. The selection of materials is also based on the different concepts of the three projects. The main materials are rubber (balloon), paper (Pinata, lantern) and paper clay. These materials are plastic, and they can help me shape the installation. And these materials are like festive items in the party, which is in contrast to the theme I discussed.
