Venere degli Anacardi
La bellezza, la malizia, il peccato, tutto è negli occhi di chi guarda. Oscar Wilde prima e molti psicologi poi lo hanno detto, fino ad arrivare alla teoria della Gestalt, secondo cui il bisogno organizza il campo percettivo. Non ho mai la certezza di quali siano i miei bisogni, ma le immagini che proietto me li mostrano, ancor più della mia mente consapevole. La Venere degli anacardi è l’incarnazione del mio desiderio di grazia, bellezza e ironia delle forme. E’ l’emblema del mio modo di vivere l’arte, l’animismo degli oggetti. E’ come se la materia mi parlasse, ma forse è la mia anima che parla attraverso la materia. Quando ho incontrato per la prima volta la Venere degli anacardi, la sua forma mi ha portato a vestirla con una parrucca rossa di Lego che giaceva proprio di fianco a lei e accanto a me.
Chissà quale intento avrà avuto Canova, mentre scolpiva Paolina Borghese come Venere Vincitrice, oltre a celebrare la potenza di Napoleone, attraverso l’esaltazione della bellezza della sorella. Così come la statua di Paolina, col cambiare dei bisogni della società che la ospitava, perse il proprio potere galvanizzante e diventò, a detta della stessa Paolina, una scultura che sfiora l’indecenza, allo stesso modo, di periodo in periodo, un anacardo può suscitare un’irrefrenabile acquolina, un momento di estatica contemplazione delle forme del femminile, un archetipo dell’antica Grecia o il desiderio travolgente di frantumarlo. Interessante per me è la prospettiva che offre l’opera. Affascinante come un corpo così piccolo, due centimetri di anacardo, nella visione soggettiva si appropri delle dimensioni che ognuno di noi preferisce immaginare. Coerente con la perpetua ricerca della fiducia altrui, chiedo ogni volta un atto di fede nei miei confronti: La Venere degli anacardi non potrà mai essere guardata di fronte, ma solo da dietro. Di certo un altro stimolo alla fantasia, ma soprattutto un gesto, ancora una volta infantile, alla ricerca di attenzioni e volontà.

Who knows what intent Canova may have had, while sculpting Paolina Borghese as Venus Victrix, as well as celebrating the power of Napoleon through the exaltation of his sister beauty. Certainly another stimulus to the imagination, but above all a gesture once again childish, in search of attention and will.
