plexiglas 29x42 cm (approx. 40 pies), shelves
70x27x2,5 (4 pieces)
interactive object presented as an installation with sound
The work, despite not having a title, is a part of series
devoted to the description of, touching upon a subject
of ‘self’. On the Plexiglas I present a selection of texts important
to me, connected either to my family history, or
vital in a literary sense. Each of them is written ten times
in different sizes. All are placed on wooden shelves creating
something resembling an old catalogues. It allows
for sorting through them, changing the order or mixing
the pieces. The presentation is accompanied by the
audio recording of the text readings, overlapping each
other as to construct a multicultural crucible, or Tower of
Babel.
In consequence, it’s a work in progress. Since 2015 I collect
additional texts from the people I met, texts important
to them, connected to their memories, childhood.
For that reason i.e. children songs, fairytale fragments,
fables, children book excerpts have been preserved on
the plexiglas.
