Eucalyptus
and lychee are two major economic crops planted in large quantities in Hongshi Village, Conghua District, driven by external
forces. Eucalyptus is mainly purchased by specific paper mills. Due to its
rapid growth, it will be ready for use in three to five years, and villagers
can obtain visible short-term returns. Conghua is a well-known litchi producing
area. It is also grown here in large quantities as a cash crop. The litchi
season is an important source of income for the villagers in this area. The
characteristics of these two plants are extremely strong in absorbing water and
fertility, which makes the village's land suffer long-term effects, and it is
impossible to change a large number of other crops. It also makes the village
abandon large-scale farming and form the current state of development.
Tree
Tablet is a
monument made of a eucalyptus tree. The base of the eucalyptus root is broken
into fibers, which are mixed with local soil through soaking, bonding and
re-tamping to form, showing the turbid water quality around the eucalyptus root
system and the water is like rust. The stems are wrapped with lacquer on the
dried lychee bark, showing the characteristics of the local eucalyptus being
entangled and wrapped by plants after death.
