Water is a vision to me.
Initially, I was working on the still state of the water, the capture of the rain, the moment water flows. I focused on the meditative perspective of seeing such a malleable material. I tried to catch the moment.
I spent seven years training as a competitive swimmer during my youth. I enjoy the quietness I feel underwater, the endless calm as if nothing is there. It is my moment of meditation, and I just go with the flow. As the oxygen is running out, I will count down the remaining joy I have left, just like counting down my time of being alive and greeting the end of such a pleasant journey. One thing I learned from my meditation, to open up my mind and embrace water with respect.
That was how I started to understand the acknowledgment of existence.
Ways of seeking the existence of water can vary. The marks that water left is the trace of its existence, and it shows me the similarity between ripple and life. Life is just like a ripple. It blooms and goes. I tend to find a way to document this process as an outsider, as someone who witnesses the human community from far away. That is why I mostly use industrial and inorganic materials in this project. These materials are cold, but my mind reminds me of the trace of human touches through the process of their production.
I am observing the existence of water.
I am observing the existence of being.
