Fusing the ethereal quality of light with the materiality of paint and
form, l use light, our oldest 'time tool', as both medium and time reference.
We wake and sleep to the rhythm of light and time. It is the basis of
existence. Directing routine and our daily rituals. Time is a constant yet not
an infinite resource. Exploring the value of time within everyday context, l
use an act of spontaneity to acknowledge action and decision. Capturing a moment in time, in the present,
extends it into the future, to become past. This highlights the fragility of
our presence, while archives existence.
The ephemeral act of spontaneous mark making / action becomes
past, in our future, when archived in paint. The mark / action, identifies our
present actions and speaks to their potential longevity.
trans-formative, the tangible physical forms, exist as paintings by day.
Paradoxically, as it darkens, they transform. Illuminating. The appearance of
the painted surface morphing beyond the paint, into something ethereal and
intangible. The colour and energy of light emanating, intangibly extending the
‘painting’ beyond the form, to ’embrace’ the viewer.
