The title of my work is derived from Foucault's description of mirrors as heterotopias, the work also references Claude glasses used by 17th century landscape painters, such as their namesake Claude Lorrain, and the mystical and magical use of black mirrors as devices for scrying.
This wall mounted piece consists of two parts, both kiln cast using opaque black glass with an area of each ground and highly polished. The forms play optically with 2 and 3d, although flat on the wall they give the impression of being 3d.
