This piece nudges to dada, surreal and the conceptual form.
The sculpture is a metaphor, and symbolic of two thousand and twenty, the artist explores our mortality within current social status and community. The piece touched on ‘death’ in representation and equally represents ‘life’.
The representations are the materials implored to sculpt the piece; the beans are a source of sustenance to life while the Skull node to all death. The materials are the epigram to life and death catalysis that drives us as humans.
There are many cataclysms to Two thousand and twenty, and they are from the artist's point of reference of this piece: pandemic, devoid, lockdown, isolation, disparity, uncertainty’, black lives matter, B.A.M.E, and C-19. These are hubris to lose your beans…
And to spill the beans; the skull head is made of PVC encrusted with two thousand, one hundred and twenty-two black beans and individually painted with the blackest black acrylic paint in the world.

Production:
The base is a PVC human skull, and underneath all of this is the same in colour and bone pigmentation for all humans have.
The piece will be mounted on a cylinder plinth with light illumination placed inside the cylinder. The light source will be a direct beam into the opening in the skull. The inside of the skull is sprayed with fluorescent paint which provides additional illumination.
The installation will have 2 modes of exhibiting the display; the texture and the illuminated lightscape inside the skull.
Audience experiential
A souvenir bag- a small bag of beans given to visitors on premier and hereafter sold as a 1kg in weight. Either prepare and consumed or plant it. The bag will be the brochure with the epigram quotes “Benefits of the black beans”
