The Purl and Plain of things connects representative and written expression.
The house is a conventional statement of safety, protection or sometimes, on the opposite, imprisonment and establishment constraints.
The two levels of image and word are interconnected, intertwined by a thread that connects two declinations of the same identity. The thread enters the paper, makes a hole and protrudes to the opposite side. The image moves into the word and vice versa.
There is a narration between the two, a periodic transformation of one into the other, each returning a different perspective of a pivotal concept.
Like a seamstress, I create this story which has, like every history, a purl and plain.
It is an invitation of rethinking about the representation of reality. It is about how we see some aspect of the world fitting on the idea we have of it, with all the inconsistencies, expectations and prejudices we have when we approach reality.
